I’m more than glad to say that I’ve had a diverse group of colleagues and friends over the years.

I’ve worked with and befriended some outstanding people who were the following: Jewish, Polynesian, Hispanic, African-American, Muslim, Mormon, Roman Catholic, Baptist, Vietnamese, Chinese, Armenian, Swedish, French, etc. Being around them allowed me to understand and appreciate different cultures and religion. More important, they showed me to look more at soul, not skin tone.

Why do I share this? Because of what transpired in Charlottesville, Virginia this weekend it DISGUSTS me that there are people out there who still think racism and division is the answer and way of life. Little do they know that going the racist route leads to defeat on their end. Past history – if they actually paid attention in history class – paints that picture.

Racism tried to conquer the world during World War II, but failed. People who fought hard for segregation in the 1960s and 70s lost that fight. Now these days, anyone who goes viral with their racist slurs loses their job and friends – then spends one whole year trying to beg and plead for forgiveness.

A racist is no different than a rat: They try to scare, they’re carrying something inside them that’s meant to infect and permeate onto others and lastly, their presence alone, even among their friends and family, lets others know who they really are…a rat.

I’ve had to kick out and stay away from some rats over the years, especially in Fresno County during my time there. So quick to defend someone after a racist rant, but equally quick to call someone a thug or something worse for making a big play or for trying to take a stand. I’ll be more than happy to kick more rats out if anyone shows their true colors. Rats are NEVER invited inside my home or around me and my family. Equality is always welcomed.

I’ve practiced equality throughout my whole life. I'm around people who also believe in equality and shows it. I’m not apologizing for it and will NEVER, NEVER apologize for exhibiting equality. It sure would be nice if everyone else consistently did the same.

I'll end this by sharing 1 Thessalonians 5:22, which states:
